EAST
WOODHAY PARISH COUNCIL
HELD ON
TUESDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER 2002
The Parish Council has contacted Basingstoke and Deane with regard to possible funding to improve the area opposite Masons Court, but has unfortunately been informed there is no possibility of any help within this financial year and there are many similar schemes outstanding.
The Clerk has contacted the
Parish Council’s insurers with a view to adding the war memorials at
Woolton Hill and East End to the Council’s policy. She has been informed that, before any
quotation can be given, a replacement value quotation will be needed. The Clerk will therefore
contact a company who have carried out work on the memorials in the past to try
to obtain replacement costs.
A dropped kerb is now in
place on the pavement opposite the infant school in Woolton Hill. The Council will contact
the Area Surveyor to see if this could, in some way, be marked to make it more
clear as a crossing point.
A donation of £50.00
has been given by the Parish Council towards the cost of running a Playscheme
in East Woodhay Village Hall during the summer. This Playscheme has operated for several years, and
has proved popular.
A meeting to discuss the
proposed development of Harwood Paddock is to be held in Woolton Hill Church
Hall on Wednesday 4th September. Representatives from the Parish Council will speak,
along with a representative from a prospective developer of the site. Members of the public will be
able to air their views, followed by an open question and answer session. A public consultation
period will take place during October and November, during which time comment
forms will be available for people to make their views known to Basingstoke and
Deane.
A quotation to repair the
vandalised roundabout at Woolton Hill Recreation Ground should be received any
day. The possibility of claiming
for this damage under the Council’s insurance policy will be investigated. Estimates for cutting the hedges
at both Recreation Grounds, along with eradication of the moles which have
again returned to Woolton Hill, have been received.
Adoption of new Financial
Regulations was proposed and accepted. A new ‘lighter touch’ audit system
comes into place this year also.
One donation request was rejected, and another agreed in principle,
subject to formal application being received.
Invitations to the Senior
Citizens Party will be sent out three weeks before the event on 12th
October, with recipients being given two weeks to respond.
An excellent response was
received to the recent Parish Appraisal, with over 50% of questionnaires being
completed and returned. To
date twenty seven people have indicated a willingness to help with the production
of a Village Design Statement, with this number growing all the time. A meeting will take place shortly
when an overall Steering Group will be set up to co-ordinate things. The Parish will divided up into
different village groups, with teams put together to produce a VDS for each
village group.
